27/07/2009 - AMT-SYBEX Wins Award at Network Rail Partnership Awards 2009
July 15th saw companies working across the rail industry honoured for producing projects of excellence at the Network Rail's first annual Partnership Awards ceremony.
The awards, which were held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole and hosted by comedian Jimmy Carr, provided Network Rail with the opportunity to recognise and reward excellence and best practice.
There were 10 categories: Best Project award, Community Engagement award, Environmental Sustainability award, Good Line-side Neighbour award, Heritage award, Information Technology award, Innovation award, Investing in People award, Safety award and Team Contribution award.
AMT-SYBEX won category six, Information Technology award, for our Phase 2a Re-organisation-Changing the Infrastructure Maintenance systems to reflect the New Organisation structure:
AMT-SYBEX supply the Ellipse and FDCS mobile system which are the core systems supporting Work and Asset Management activity for Infrastructure Maintenance.
Under phase 2a re-organisation, Ellipse and other connected systems had to be changed to reflect 9 "route" based districts and delivery units.
This huge data migration project, requiring collaboration between all parties, was heralded a success by Network Rail Directors as it enabled the new organisation to operate from one day without any disruption to running business.
This award recognises an organisation that has used information technology to mitigate or solve a problem that Network Rail faces or those that have used information technology to streamline processes. Judges looked for measurable results that show benefits that this technology has created.
Chief executive Iain Coucher said: " Selecting the winners was tough and all our short-listed entrants should feel proud to have made it through such an impressive pool of entries. Our finalists have made a real difference to Network Rail and the millions of people who travel by rail every day."
