British Gas

Our DTS* (Data Transfer Solution) solution underpins the management of data flows between British Gas and all other participants within the UK energy retail market.

The Challenge
The UK Energy Retail market requires participants to be able to gain and lose customers. The mechanism which enables this requires participants to manage in excess of 20 million complex data flows per annum for both electricity and gas. Following a review of their operations, British Gas decided that they required a strategic data flow management tool to marshal all their industry related data flows for their residential, business and metering operations.

Providing a significantly higher level of control of their data flows has enabled British Gas to gain increased end-to-end control of their business processes.

The Solution
As part of British Gas’s ICON programme, AMT-SYBEX was selected as the best placed product vendor to provide a data flow management solution. The solution was implemented using AMT-SYBEX’s Data Transfer Solution (DTS) – a proven data flow management tool which enables organisations to have visibility and control over all of their industry related data flows.

Providing a significantly higher level of control of their data flows has enabled British Gas to gain increased end-to-end control of their business processes. In addition the solution provides significant reporting capability against data flows providing a series of KPI’s to assist internal and agent management.

DTS is the foundation of the British Gas ICON Programme which manages data flows between British Gas and all of the other industry participants involved in the sale of electricity and gas in the UK.

Julia Sherwen, Business Sponsor of the ICON Programme said “Through the ICON Programme British Gas has worked hard with its suppliers and has delivered something of real value to the business”.
