04/12/2008 - StatoilHydro completes appraisal drilling
StatoilHydro has completed the drilling of an appraisal well at the pan/Pandora gas/oil discovery in the North Sea south of the Visund field.

Well 34/8-14 A was drilled to delineate the 34/8-14 S Pan/Pandora discovery in the northern portion of the structure, the company stated.

"The area south of Visund has a considerable remaining resource potential, and we are very pleased that the expectations as to the northern extension of the discovery now have been confirmed," said head of infrastructure-led exploration west, May-Liss Hauknes.

During testing, the well confirmed the existence of a 53m gas column over an 8m Brent oil column.

The company will now drill a sidetrack from this well to determine oil/water contact and provide more accurate evaluations of the extent of the reserve potential.

Last month, StatoilHydro also confirmed that it had found evidence of oil presence at the Lua Nova well in the Jequitinhonha Basin off the coast of Brazil.
