04/12/2008 - Ryland starts Bakken production
Ryland has announced that it has commenced production in the Bakken drilling program in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Surface facilities and a pumping facility are currently being installed at the Roncott 4-1-06-25W2 well, the company said.

The development follows successful production and stimulation tests at the well, which showed flow rates of 90 to 120 barrels of oil per day.

It added that a multistage simulation at the Hardy 7-9-04-21W2 well is scheduled for this week.

The announcement follows successful core results and drilling shows observed during stratigraphic testing and a horizontal sidetrack.

"The company believes that successful completion of this well will open significant drilling potential in the central portion of its acreage position," Ryland said in a statement.

In October, the group announced that it had expanded its Bakken play holdings and acquired new petroleum and natural gas licenses and leases covering southeast Saskatchewan.

Said Dick Findley, chairman of Ryland, said that the Roncott Bakken play has become a focus of the company's drilling program.
