08/12/2008 - StatoilHydro finishes Nucula discovery well
StatoilHydro has announced that it has completed drilling the first well at the Nucula discovery in the North Sea.
According to the company, the purpose of the 7125/4-2 well was to delineate oil and natural gas first identified in early 2007.
It noted that although oil-bearing layers were thin, the find did show good production properties.
"We will now evaluate the size of the find and further development opportunities for Nucula," said StatoilHydro's head of exploration activities in the far north Geir Richardsen.
It is the second well in production in the 393 licence and the project is being carried out with partners ENI Norge, BG Norge AS and Petoro.
Drilling was carried out by a Polar Pioneer drilling rig, which will now be moving to the 228 licence.
In other recent announcements, StatoilHydro last week confirmed that it had completed drilling at the Pan/Pandora gas/oil discovery south of the Visund field.
