09/12/2008 - Venture brings Stamford on stream
Venture has announced that the Stamford gas field in the North Sea has been brought on stream.
The field, which has been tapped via a single subsea production well tied to the Markham J6A platform, is expected to produce a minimum of 18 million cubic feet of oil per day during an initial period.
A mid-case output for the lifetime of the project stands at 16 billion cubic feet of recoverable oil, while an upper estimate stands at 20 bcf.
In a statement, group chief executive Mike Wagstaff commented: "We have brought Stamford into production almost exactly 14 months after project sanction which is a tremendous achievement in what has been a very tight market for offshore services.
He added that Venture is looking forward to exploiting further potential in the Greater Markham Area.
In other recent announcements, the Aberdeen-based company said in September that the Chestnut project had achieved first oil in the North Sea.
