19/02/2009 - Britons 'think energy bills are too high'
More than two-thirds of Britons think that their energy bills are too high, according to new research from a price comparison website.
Moneysupermarket.com revealed that 67 per cent of the respondents to its survey felt they were still paying too much and wanted prices to come down.
While a number of energy firms have lowered their charges recently, 29 per cent of consumers said that this was overdue, with only three per cent saying they are currently satisfied with what they pay for utilities.
"This poll highlights the current sentiment of bill payers in the UK," said Scott Byrom, utilities manager at the company.
"There is no doubt the British public is in desperate need of a grander gesture when it comes to cuts to their energy bills."
A fall in energy costs and fuel prices has helped reduce the UK's inflation rate from 3.1 per cent in December to three per cent in January, according to the Consumer Prices Index.
It is the fourth month in a row that the rate has gone down, following a high of 5.2 per cent in September.
