Enterprise Asset Management for Energy: Applications

Protection

Protection systems are put in place to protect people and assets, and information relating to the status and detailed settings of these systems needs to be available to operations staff and asset managers. Enterprise systems are rarely able to accommodate this specific data, however, Affinity Systemreach combined with an enterprise solution such as Ellipse allows additional data validation and specific status controls with appropriate data validation and checks, ensuring confidence that the information provided is accurate and up to date.

Unit Costs

The increasing need to compare work across an organisation or between DNOs has placed a focus on unit costs at all levels in the industry. Understanding costs at the work activity level and the asset level is essential to provide accurate unit cost reporting. Ellipse can enable a unit cost solution using standard and well proven techniques, providing the ability to meet multiple costing strategies across the business, meeting organisational, operational and regulatory demands for cost information.

Fault Management

Responding to faults and ensuring that the lights are kept on is vital to our energy clients. Our EAM solution is the back bone to the reactive work processes in a number of UK energy organisations. Reactive work is created in Ellipse directly by control engineers or automatically through integration with SCADA systems. This work takes priority over other planned maintenance activities, and integration with the leading automatic scheduling systems allocates the work to the closest engineer with the right skills for the job. Work is immediately despatched in real time to our Fieldreach application. Once the field engineer has completed the work details of the repair are captured against the asset and sent back to Ellipse. This supports our clients’ asset strategy and asset health teams in predicting failures and designing maintenance strategies to mitigate future issues.
